A Bit About Me

I'm excited about helping clients become inspired by & confident in strategies to optimize their overall health, physical performance, and longevity. My passion for wellness began when I realized that life is hard enough when you’re well, and it only gets harder when you’re unwell. I became a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine as well as a Certified Posture Specialist through the National Posture Institute in 2010. I earned my Bachelor’s of Science from SUNY Plattsburgh in Fitness and Wellness Leadership in 2013, and then my Master’s Degree in the same program in 2017. After a few years as a personal trainer, I began my work as a Health Educator at the Armed Forces Wellness Center in Fort Drum NY. In my 9 years as an educator I participated in research studies, taught lectures, created exercise prescription plans, and conducted one-on-one health coaching in addition to performing fitness, metabolic, and body composition assessments daily. Lecture topics included  healthy sleep, stress management, dietetics, metabolism, and human performance. I became a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 2017. As a strength coach I’ve had the opportunity to work with collegiate athletes as well as active duty and retired military members.

Personal Training

There are tremendous benefits to incorporating regular physical exercise as part of a healthy lifestyle. These include improved cognition and enhanced mood, decreased risk of disease and injury during daily activities, and of course improved overall fitness. We customize the session goals and scheduling to your needs, whether you're a beginner who wants more help learning their way around a fitness center, an exercise enthusiast interested in advancing their challenge levels safely, or one who knows what healthy routines work well for them & need encouragement/accountability to stay consistent and see results. With a personal training plan in place, you'll experience enhanced strength, stamina, balance, flexibility, and consistency in the successful achievement of your goals.

Body Composition Testing

We use the results of your body composition tests to create a personalized fitness plan for you. 

Body composition results provide a more accurate picture of your health than a BMI score alone by measuring the amount of fat, muscle, and bone tissue proportions in your body. Gathering data at regular intervals allows us more accurately track progress in your goal achievement.

For example, have you ever had your doctor recommend you or your child "lose weight," but find it discouraging when there's in fact weight gain with exercise? Through conducting skinfold testing, we can identify more specifically what your anthropometric change is in body fat percentage. Additionally, your trainer may recommend specified exercises and lifestyle strategies which diminish the "bulking up" or "adipose retention" effects, and instead focus on increasing metabolism to promote healthy weight loss.

Sport-Specific Conditioning Training

I implement injury prevention & rehabilitation principles and kinesiology knowledge in program creation so that you can expect a balanced training plan which both enhances your performance and reduces physical risks common to your sport/activity. Clients can expect a customized training program for either in-season, pre-season, post-season, or for the entire year.
